The Israeli Football Association is investigating a serious allegation that Ironi Tiberias players were given intravenous treatments containing banned substances before an important lower-bracket playoff match against M.S. Ashdod. Ashdod’s lawyers filed a formal complaint, and the case is also being reviewed by WADA, the World Anti-Doping Agency.
According to the association, the suspected IV use took place close to the playoff meeting between the clubs, at a time when Ashdod was fighting to avoid relegation. The federation said the matter is being handled by professional investigators and that it cannot provide further details while the inquiry continues.
Ironi Tiberias said coach Eliran Huda is currently on a family vacation abroad and will respond when he returns to Israel, if necessary. The club added that it gives him full backing and believes any action taken, if one occurred, was legal and compliant, while urging restraint until the authorities finish their work.
Initial reports say investigators are reviewing collected material, including recordings, screenshots and other information that could lead to proceedings against Tiberias and some of its players. At the same time, no player has tested positive for a banned substance after any match, and the matter remains under investigation.
