The Israel Football Association said Sunday it received a formal complaint from lawyers for M.S. Ashdod alleging that Iriyuni Tiberias may have used prohibited IV infusions before the teams met in the relegation playoff, a match Tiberias won 3-0. The complaint, filed by attorney Amit Hadad on Ashdod’s behalf, asks for an immediate, full investigation and for all evidence sent to the association to be reviewed under the rules of the association, FIFA and WADA.
At this stage, the case is still under investigation, but officials at Israel’s National Anti-Doping Organization told Sport 5 that if Tiberias is found guilty, the club could face a suspension from competition of up to four years. Match results could also be annulled, and individuals found involved and guilty could face personal punishment.
The anti-doping authority, which works with the association and is subject to WADA, said the next step would be a hearing or formal prosecution. The Football Association may also launch its own disciplinary and legal proceedings in parallel.
According to the report, everyone at Tiberias could be questioned, from the players to the coaching staff. Head coach Eliran Hodda is currently abroad.
