Significant Suspensions Proposed in Israeli Football Doping Scandal

The doping scandal involving five suspended players from Ironi Tiberias football club has taken a new turn. Initially expected to receive light penalties, the players, Guy Hadida, David Kaltins, Tal Teper, Eddy Gottlieb, and Sambinia, are now facing proposed suspensions ranging from three to five months as part of a plea deal demanded by the disciplinary agency. This marks the opening offer in ongoing negotiations, with uncertainty over whether the players will accept these terms. They are currently consulting with attorney Ephraim Barak.

The agency is also seeking harsher penalties for the club's staff. Coach Eliran Hodeda, identified as the main orchestrator of the doping incident, faces a proposed suspension of approximately twelve months. Technical manager Chen Sol is also targeted with a four-month suspension demand. At this stage, no agreements have been reached, and the parties must decide whether to accept the agency's conditions or proceed to a formal legal process.
