Defense Minister Katz Accuses Liberman, Golan of Dangerous Retreat Policies

Defense Minister Israel Katz launched a sharp attack on former Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and former IDF Chief of Staff Yair Golan, accusing them of advocating policies that would lead to Israeli withdrawal and transfer security responsibility to other actors in Judea and Samaria.

Katz specifically criticized Liberman, whom he described as a candidate for prime minister in a rotation government, for past proposals to unilaterally withdraw from Gaza and hand over the Philadelphi Corridor to Egypt. Katz stated that Liberman is now suggesting the deployment of a Jordanian army unit near the city of Qalqilya, close to Highway 6, and transferring security and administrative control of Areas A and B in Judea and Samaria to Jordan.

Furthermore, Katz targeted Yair Golan, referring to him as the "designated Defense Minister" preparing to assume the role. Katz claimed that Golan has declared his intention to forcibly evacuate 100,000 Jewish settlers from their homes immediately upon entering office.

Katz asserted that these proposals from Liberman and Golan represent a dangerous policy of retreat and a relinquishing of security control to external entities.
