Top Rabbi Launches Emergency Fund for Needy Families Ahead of Holidays

Rabbi Dov Lando, a leading figure in the Haredi community, has initiated an urgent fundraising campaign through the "Kupat Ha'ir" organization to assist families struggling with the high cost of living and holiday expenses. Rabbi Lando instructed the organization to immediately establish a relief fund for families unable to afford basic necessities for the upcoming Sukkot holiday and Shabbat.

He emphasized the importance of donating charity before the holiday, particularly before Sukkot, citing Jewish law that mandates giving to the needy. Rabbi Lando explained that the fund is crucial for families facing financial hardship and unable to purchase food, and also serves as a significant opportunity for the public to fulfill the mitzvah of charity, as outlined in Jewish legal codes like the Rambam and Shulchan Aruch.

All funds collected before Sukkot will be immediately distributed to needy families to cover their initial holiday expenses. Subsequent donations will support families throughout the intermediate days of the holiday (Chol HaMoed), the final days, and Simchat Torah, with ongoing support for Shabbat thereafter.

As a token of appreciation for donors, Rabbi Lando is offering a silver-plated goblet engraved with a personal blessing in his own handwriting. The blessing expresses good wishes for prosperity, ease in earning a livelihood, satisfaction with their possessions, health, peace, and the fulfillment of all their desires.
