Israeli Counter-Terror Unit Arrests Senior Hamas Operative in West Bank Village
Special undercover Border Police (Magav) officers, operating under the direction of the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), conducted a raid overnight in the village of Qaryut in the Samaria Brigade area. During the operation, they apprehended a senior operative in the Palestinian Fatah party, who is suspected of advancing terrorist activities against Israeli security forces.
The undercover unit arrived at the compound where the suspect was located, surrounded the building, and employed a "pressure cooker" procedure. Following the operation, the suspect emerged from the structure and surrendered to the Israeli forces. He was subsequently arrested and transferred to the Shin Bet for further interrogation.
The operation targeted a specific individual believed to be actively involved in planning and promoting terror attacks. The use of undercover "Mista'arvim" units, trained to blend in with local populations, is a common tactic employed by Israeli security forces in counter-terrorism operations in the West Bank.
