Israeli Forces Kill Gazan Refugee in Renewed Shelling

Israeli forces continued to violate the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, the 349th day of the truce, with artillery shelling, gunfire, and targeting of residential areas, alongside demolitions of buildings and facilities. The violations, which occurred early Wednesday, were concentrated in the southern Gaza Strip, particularly in Khan Younis governorate. The shelling and gunfire resulted in the death of one displaced person and injuries to others.

Israeli artillery renewed its shelling of the eastern areas of Khan Younis, accompanied by tank and helicopter fire. Israeli helicopters also targeted western areas of Rafah, while military vehicles fired towards eastern Khan Younis.

In central Gaza, Israeli quadcopter drones fired heavily on homes in the Bureij camp, and helicopters targeted the camp's eastern areas. Israeli artillery shelled the area of Sikka Street east of the Zeitoun neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. Military vehicles also fired towards the eastern areas of Beit Lahia project in the northern Strip.

In Khan Younis, intense tank fire targeted the city's eastern areas, and Israeli forces carried out demolitions of homes and facilities northeast of the governorate. These developments come amid ongoing Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement, which was signed on October 10, 2025, and despite the ongoing truce and understandings related to its second phase. U.S. President Donald Trump announced on July 31, 2026, a "new agreement" to begin implementing the second phase of the "road map" for Gaza, but Israeli shelling, gunfire, and demolitions continue almost daily in various parts of the Strip.
