Argentine President Milei Receives 'Israel Lover' Award in NYC

Argentine President Javier Milei visited the "Darchei Torah" yeshiva in New York on Tuesday as part of his U.S. trip ahead of his address at the 81st UN General Assembly. During his visit, Milei spoke to the yeshiva students and was presented with the "Israel Lover" award by the institution's management in recognition of his support for Israel and the Jewish people.

The visit to the yeshiva was part of Milei's schedule in New York, where he arrived for his speech at the UN General Assembly. On Wednesday, Milei was scheduled to address the General Assembly and later attend a conference on Western values, economic freedom, and strategic security.

Later on Wednesday, Milei was expected to meet with business leaders and conclude his day with a meeting with Chabad influencer Rabbi Simon Jacobson. The Argentine president is known for his deep connection to biblical texts, which he discussed in a recent interview with French media outlet LCI.

In the interview, Milei stated that he draws inspiration from the Torah, particularly the Book of Exodus, which he described as the most important liberation story in human history. He cited the biblical figures of Moses and Aaron confronting Pharaoh as a symbol of struggling against great powers, comparing them to modern-day superpowers like the United States, Russia, or China.

A meeting between Milei and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled for Thursday, following Milei's UN address. The meeting is set for 5:00 PM, after which Milei is expected to participate in a Latin American leaders' meeting alongside Netanyahu at 5:30 PM.
