Israeli Premier League Player Salaries Revealed to Exceed National Average

A new agreement between the Players' Union and the Football Association has revealed that the average net monthly salary for a player in Israel's top football league, the Premier League, is NIS 45,000. This figure significantly surpasses the national average gross monthly salary, which stands at NIS 15,218 according to the Central Bureau of Statistics. The average salary in the Premier League encompasses players across all teams and is used as a basis for calculating fines for disciplinary infractions.

The highest earner in the Premier League is reportedly Maccabi Tel Aviv star James Tavernier, with an estimated net annual salary of €750,000, equating to €75,000 net per month. This contrasts sharply with the second-tier National League, where many players are young, soldiers, or less experienced. The average net monthly salary in the National League is considerably lower, at NIS 8,000, falling below the national average salary. However, exceptions exist, with Dor Micha at MS Ashdod reportedly earning NIS 60,000 net per month, indicating that high earners are present even in the second division.
