Haim Revivo Reveals Why Son Roy Plays as a Defender

Former Israeli soccer star Haim Revivo has revealed the reasons behind his son Roy's transition to a defensive position. In an interview with the Spanish sports publication AS, Revivo explained that he intentionally steered his son towards playing as a defender from a young age.

Revivo stated, "I wanted him to play in a different position from me, so from a young age I directed him to be a defender. He was a very aggressive player and tackled strongly from a young age, so I wanted a position where he could show both defense and offense. I didn't want him to be compared to me all the time." He also mentioned that Roy, who has moved from Israel to Spain for the first time, is working with a Spanish tutor to improve his language skills and hopes he will adapt quickly.

Roy Revivo has already made his debut for Elche after only four training sessions, and his father believes he will improve with each game as he becomes more familiar with his teammates and gains confidence. Haim Revivo expressed his hope that his son will develop into a player better than himself, citing Brazilian legends Roberto Carlos and Marcelo as Roy's idols.

Regarding transfer interest, Haim Revivo confirmed that Elche was the only club that showed genuine interest, despite rumors from other leagues and countries. He believes Spain offers the best league for young players to showcase their abilities, as only the best play there.
