Israeli Tourist Missing in Greece's Mount Olympus Region
An Israeli family is appealing for help in locating Ami Yogev, a 46-year-old Israeli tourist who has been missing since Sunday while hiking in the Mount Olympus region of Greece. Yogev reportedly began his hike from the Prionia parking area, heading up the E4 trail. The last contact with him was a photo sent to his mother, believed to have been taken after the second rest stop on the trail. There are unconfirmed reports of him being seen in the Kalakos area, but this has not been verified.
The family is urging other Israeli hikers who were in the area since Sunday to check if they saw Yogev, passed him on any trails, visited any huts or rest stops, or spoke with him about his planned route. They are asking anyone with information that could aid in his search to contact the family or rescue authorities.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that Israel's consul in Athens and the department for Israelis in distress abroad are in contact with local Greek authorities and are assisting in the search efforts.
