The sources stated that these ministries are considered "core" portfolios for the ruling party, essential for defining its policy and identity, and have historically remained under Likud's control.

Beyond the political and ideological reasons, Likud leaders are concerned about the potential international repercussions of appointing Ben-Gvir as Defense Minister. They believe such a move would face strong opposition globally and could significantly damage Israel's diplomatic relations, particularly with the United States and Arab nations involved in normalization efforts.
