Purple Line Construction Triggers Traffic Disruptions in Yehud and Or Yehuda

NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. is implementing significant traffic changes, road closures, and public transportation route modifications in Yehud-Monosson and Or Yehuda from Tuesday, September 22nd to Thursday, September 24th, 2026. These measures are part of the ongoing infrastructure work for the Purple Line of the light rail.

Nighttime work, scheduled between 10:00 PM and 5:00 AM on Highway 461, will cause the closure of Ha'atzmaut Street in Or Yehuda between Yekutiel Adam Street and Highway 461 starting Tuesday evening. On Wednesday night, September 23rd, traffic lanes on Highway 461 in the same section will be reduced, and the Yehud Merkaz junction (Weizmann Street) will be completely closed to traffic in both directions. Resident access will be permitted under the guidance of traffic controllers.

Additional infrastructure work will take place on Highway 461 between the Ha'Taysim junction and the Mesubim interchange. During daytime hours (9:00 AM to 2:00 PM) on workdays, lanes in the area will be reduced. During the nights of Tuesday and Wednesday (10:00 PM to 5:00 AM), Highway 461 will be closed to traffic between Yigal Allon Boulevard and Ha'atzmaut Street in Or Yehuda.

Further closures will affect Shimon Peres Boulevard (between Carmel Street and Highway 461) and Ben Gurion Boulevard in Or Yehuda. Public transportation routes and station locations will also be altered, with detailed information available via the "Kol-Kav" hotline. NTA and the municipality advise drivers to use navigation apps, follow signage and instructions from personnel on site, and prepare for delays and localized noise disturbances.
