Purple Line Progress: Officials Tour Light Rail Construction in Or Yehuda

Officials from the Or Yehuda Municipality and NTA Metropolitan Mass Transit System Ltd. conducted a professional tour on Thursday along Route 461 to inspect the progress of the Purple Line light rail project. The tour, led by Or Yehuda Mayor Liאת Shohat and NTA CEO Itamar Ben Meir, included other municipal and company officials. The purpose was to closely examine the construction status ahead of the line's expected opening in approximately two years.

During the tour, immediate solutions were discussed to ease the burden on pedestrians and road users, focusing on improving the visibility and safety of work sites near residential and commercial areas. NTA is undertaking intensive work along the route to complete the necessary infrastructure. Mayor Shohat noted a positive shift in NTA's approach, with the company engaging with residents' needs and understanding the importance of public space management during construction.

Shohat acknowledged the traffic disruptions and congestion impacting residents and businesses, stating the municipality is working to minimize temporary inconvenience until the light rail becomes operational, promising a faster, more convenient, and greener transit option that will enhance the city's quality of life. NTA CEO Ben Meir thanked the mayor for the cooperation, emphasizing the company's commitment to investing necessary resources despite project complexities to ensure public convenience during the works.

Ben Meir highlighted Or Yehuda's trajectory towards becoming a public transport leader with the Purple Line and future Metro, stressing the focus on site visibility and adherence to schedules. Both the municipality and NTA pledged to maintain close monitoring of the construction and provide public updates on developments.
