Israeli Actors to Portray Hamas Hostages in New Play

In anticipation of the third anniversary of the October 7th Hamas attack, the story of Aviva and Keith Siegel, survivors of the Hamas captivity, is being brought to the stage. Acclaimed Israeli actors Moni Moshonov and Sandra Sadeh, a real-life married couple, will portray Keith and Aviva Siegel, respectively, in a staged reading of a new play titled "Love at the End of the Tunnel." The play, inspired by and developed in collaboration with the Siegels, is written by Michal Aroni and initiated by Eitan Schwartz.

The public reading is scheduled for October 6th at the Habima Theatre, the day before the three-year mark of the massacre. The play delves into the couple's abduction from their home in Kibbutz Kfar Aza on October 7th and their subsequent time in captivity. It also explores their life together prior to the attack, highlighting over four decades of marriage and shared experiences that were abruptly interrupted.

Aviva Siegel was released in November 2023 after 51 days in captivity as part of a hostage deal. Keith Siegel remained in Gaza and was only released in February 2025, after 484 days. Their story, particularly the forced separation after Aviva's release, became a prominent narrative in the campaign to free the hostages.

Moshonov and Sadeh, who have been married for decades themselves, will embody the couple in this two-actor play, which navigates between moments of their togetherness and their separation. The production is directed by Ilayla Semel, with music by Tal Blachrovitz. This October 6th reading will mark the play's first public presentation.
