Trump Threatens Iran With Destruction at UN, Hints at Deal

Speaking at the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, U.S. President Donald Trump dedicated a significant portion of his foreign policy address to Iran. Trump characterized the Iranian regime as a "leading sponsor of terrorism" that has ruled through "bloodshed and mass murder" for 51 years, spreading chaos across the Middle East and beyond. He reiterated his commitment, stating, "I will never allow Iran to have nuclear weapons."

Trump claimed that U.S. operations, including "Midnight Hammer," had destroyed Iran's nuclear program through airstrikes, and that "Epic Fury" had eliminated all 159 ships of the Iranian navy. He presented a stark choice for Iran: either a deal allowing its recovery and growth, or swift destruction of the Islamic Republic.

Despite the threats, Trump expressed confidence that an agreement with Tehran would be reached shortly after the U.S. midterm elections. He drew a parallel between the September 11th attacks in the U.S. and the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas, noting the recent 25th anniversary of 9/11 and the upcoming three-year anniversary of the attack that killed approximately 1,200 people in Israel.

Additionally, Trump criticized the International Criminal Court, calling it an "out-of-control institution" and urging its members to resign, asserting that the U.S. would not allow its military personnel to face an "anti-American tribunal." He also briefly addressed the war in Ukraine, stating that the U.S. is working closely with Russian and Ukrainian leaders to bring the conflict to an end sooner than expected.
