Trump Compares Oct. 7 to 9/11, Vows to Block Iran's Nuclear Ambitions

Speaking at the UN General Assembly, U.S. President Donald Trump drew a parallel between the September 11th attacks and the October 7th Hamas assault on Israel. Trump noted that the U.S. had recently marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11, which killed 3,000 people, and that the third anniversary of the October 7th attack, which saw 1,200 Israelis and others killed by Iran-backed terrorists, was approaching.

Trump condemned Iran's Supreme Leader for celebrating the October 7th attack, stating that the Iranian regime has killed over 72,000 of its own citizens this year. He expressed concern that such a regime could have obtained nuclear weapons, creating a reality that many ignored. "The fact that such a despicable regime could have obtained the capability to carry out widespread terror attacks under the umbrella of a nuclear umbrella was a reality that we had to deal with, a reality that far too many chose to ignore," Trump stated.

He thanked the UN Security Council for overwhelmingly passing a resolution condemning Iran's attacks on commercial shipping, noting it received more UN member state support than any other Security Council resolution in history. Trump asserted that the United States would no longer allow threats against America to gain a foothold in the Western Hemisphere and would use "unparalleled military force" if necessary to protect U.S. national interests.
