Sudden Death of Young Mother Shocks Ashdod's Gur Hasidic Community

The Gur Hasidic community in Ashdod is mourning the sudden death of Sarah Gittel Katz, 40, who passed away at her home on Thursday morning. Katz had complained of pain the previous evening before her unexpected passing. She leaves behind her husband, Yochanan Chaim Katz, and young children.

Katz was the daughter of Rabbi Shaul Dov Wallach, a prominent rabbi within the Gur community in Ashdod's neighborhood 8. Friends described her as a charitable woman devoted to her family and children's education.

This tragedy strikes the family just three years after a devastating loss. Their seven-year-old son, Ze'ev Katz, died after falling from the fourth-floor balcony of their home. He had returned from his studies at the "Lev Simcha" Talmud Torah school when the accident occurred. He was taken to Assuta Hospital's intensive care unit but succumbed to his injuries several days later.

The funeral procession for Sarah Gittel Katz departed from the Ashdod cemetery, attended by family, city rabbis, and residents who came to pay their respects.
