UN Chief Antonio Guterres Condemns Israel's Actions in Gaza and West Bank

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres delivered a strong address to the General Assembly on Tuesday, criticizing Israel's conduct in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. Guterres described the scale of killing and destruction in Gaza as "unprecedented" and called for an immediate ceasefire, the unimpeded flow of humanitarian aid, and the assurance of freedom of navigation in accordance with international law.

He also addressed the broader political landscape, urging against the erosion of the two-state solution. Guterres further voiced sharp criticism of Israeli policies in the West Bank, stating that "violence and the expansion of settlements are trampling the path to peace and the fear of ethnic cleansing."

Following Guterres's speech, U.S. President Donald Trump was scheduled to address the General Assembly. Upon his arrival at UN headquarters in New York, Trump commented on the presence of CNN journalists, referencing his ongoing dispute with the network. He also briefly responded to questions about the war in Ukraine, stating that Russian President Vladimir Putin should "end the war."

Other leaders slated to speak at the General Assembly included King Abdullah II of Jordan, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
