Haim Revivo Says Son's Transfer Deal Was a Loss for All Parties

Haim Revivo, father of rising Israeli football talent Roi Revivo, has spoken for the first time about his son's transfer from Maccabi Tel Aviv to Spanish club Elche. Speaking on his podcast "Revivo and Shachner" on Sport1, Haim Revivo described the deal as one where "everyone lost." He explained that Maccabi Tel Aviv sold the player for less than they initially wanted, acknowledging that while Roi was valued at 4-5 million euros, the market for an Israeli player without a European passport moving directly to a top league was limited. Revivo noted that Maccabi Tel Aviv did not receive what they felt they deserved immediately, but will benefit from a 30% sell-on clause for future transfers. Haim Revivo himself received no financial compensation from the deal, stating he waived any claim and was willing to pay from his own pocket to facilitate his son's move. He also highlighted the role of agent Pini Zahavi and expressed gratitude to Avi Nimani, who encouraged the move, stating his hope to compensate Nimani later. The discussion followed Roi Revivo's impressive performance for Elche, where he provided two assists in three minutes during a 3-1 victory over Espanyol, continuing his strong start in Spain.
