Chaim Revivo Claims Maccabi Tel Aviv Broke Promise Over Son Roy's Transfer

Chaim Revivo, father of rising football star Roy Revivo and a former player himself, has spoken out about the circumstances surrounding his son's transfer to Spanish club Elche. Revivo alleges that Maccabi Tel Aviv reneged on a promise made when Roy was 18 to facilitate his move to a top European league. He claims the club initially wanted Roy to move to one of the top five leagues but then presented unreasonable financial demands.

Revivo stated that he ultimately agreed to waive his son's "percentage" of future transfer fees to enable the move, a decision he felt was necessary despite initial reluctance. He explained that while he could have demanded a higher fee, he understood the financial realities for Maccabi Tel Aviv and the offer made by Elche. He contrasted this with the approach of Maccabi Haifa's owner, Yaakov Shahar, whom he praised for prioritizing player development and facilitating moves abroad.

Despite the difficulties, Roy Revivo has quickly adapted to life in Spain, impressing in his early appearances for Elche, including providing two assists in a recent 3-1 victory over Espanyol. Chaim Revivo expressed pride in his son's rapid integration into the team and the Spanish league, noting the high tempo of training and the challenges of a new language and environment.
