Haim Revivo Criticizes Maccabi Tel Aviv Over Son Roy's Blocked Transfer to Spanish Club

Following reports that Roy Revivo agreed to terms with Spanish club Elche and requested to miss Maccabi Tel Aviv's recent match in Batumi, the player's father and former star Haim Revivo publicly criticized Maccabi's management after the team's elimination from the Europa League qualifiers. Haim Revivo said his son is frustrated and hurt that Maccabi refused to let him leave despite receiving an offer from Elche, which would advance his career. He explained that Roy personally informed his coach he was not mentally prepared to play due to the transfer opportunity, and the coach agreed to release him, but Maccabi withheld approval, contradicting claims of ongoing negotiations or other reasons presented to the media.

Haim Revivo accused Maccabi of breaking promises made since last summer, when it was clear Roy would not remain after failing to transfer to Copenhagen and losing money. The club had assured support if an offer came from one of Europe's top five leagues, but instead "lied" to Roy. He emphasized that Roy has been loyal to Maccabi since childhood, winning two championships and a cup, and now seeks a new challenge as other young players have successfully moved abroad.

He also criticized Maccabi's high asking price for an Israeli left-back, calling it unreasonable and a barrier to Roy's chance to play in Spain and develop. Haim Revivo said the club suddenly increased demands after receiving a good offer, reflecting poor preparation for the season and reliance on a player who was expected to leave. He declared he has stopped being accommodating with Maccabi and will not give up on his son's dream, acknowledging the emotional toll on Roy.
