National Insurance Offices to Close for Sukkot Holiday
The National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) offices will be closed to the public from September 25th to October 4th, coinciding with the Sukkot holiday.
While branches reopened on September 22nd after being closed for Yom Kippur, the window for in-person services will be brief. During the closure period, both in-person appointments and phone consultations will not be available. This means individuals requiring scheduled assistance or services that necessitate an appointment will need to wait until October 5th, when full operations resume.
Digital services on the National Insurance Institute's website will remain accessible throughout the holiday period, allowing users to submit applications, upload documents, and perform online transactions. However, phone service centers will have limited hours, with availability only on October 4th before the full resumption of services on October 5th.
An exception to the closure applies to scheduled medical committees, which will proceed as planned. Individuals with appointments are advised to attend as scheduled and not assume cancellation due to the branch closures.
In related news, the National Insurance Institute advanced the payment of long-term benefits for September to September 22nd, ahead of the holiday. This includes payments for the elderly, survivors, disability, disabled child, special services, mobility, work injury, alimony, rehabilitation, and nursing care. The early payment is a shift in deposit dates, not an increase in benefit amounts.
