Israeli Cycling Team Launches Scholarship in Memory of Deceased Rider

The Israeli cycling team NSN has launched the Finn Tarling Cycling Scholarship to foster young talent from Wales, the rider's home country, in his memory. Tarling tragically died during a race on August 14.

The initiative aims to continue Tarling's legacy by annually selecting a Welsh male or female cyclist between the ages of 15 and 20. The chosen rider will receive comprehensive professional support, including equipment, training, and participation in development team training camps. The scholarship is planned to run for at least the next five years.

"Anyone who knew Finn knew there was nothing he loved more than riding his bike," said NSN Development Team Manager Tim Elverson. "He was determined to become a professional and reach the WorldTour. When we thought about how best to honor him, we knew Finn would want more than anything to see other young riders follow in his footsteps."

The scholarship recipient will be integrated into the professional support system of the NSN Development Team. If professionally ready, the possibility of joining the team as an intern later in the season will also be considered. The selection process will be conducted in collaboration with Welsh Cycling and Finn's parents, Michael and Dawn Tarling.

The first scholarship winner is expected to join the team's training camp in February 2027. Finn Tarling, a promising young rider, was on his path to achieving his dream of becoming a professional cyclist and reaching the WorldTour when his life was cut short.
