Two Eilat Men Charged in Daylight Robbery of Thousands of Shekels

Prosecutors have indicted two Eilat residents, Daniel Marciano, 20, and Abd Al-Rahman Hadi Buai, 36, for a daylight robbery of a man who was followed home from a bar after they observed him carrying thousands of shekels in cash. The indictment, filed by attorney Hila Malul of the Southern District Attorney's Office, details that earlier this month, Marciano and Abd were at a bar in Eilat. The victim, also present at the bar, withdrew approximately 8,000 shekels in cash to pay his bill. After paying, he returned the remaining money to his pocket. Marciano and Abd then left the bar and waited for him nearby. As the victim left and began walking home, the two followed him. When he reached an alley near his home, the defendants confronted him on the stairs, shouting to each other, "Here he comes." They chased him, and upon catching up, Abd sprayed the victim's face with pepper spray and took the cash from his pocket. Abd then led the victim to a nearby street corner, searched his pockets, and stole his mobile phone. Eilat police investigators arrived at the scene and took the victim's statement. Security camera footage captured parts of the robbery. Witnesses at the bar confirmed that the victim had openly displayed a wad of cash. In the accompanying requests for remand until the end of proceedings, it was noted that this serious offense occurred in the middle of the street in broad daylight.
