Two Suspects Arrested for Hotel Room Burglaries in Eilat Using Stolen Master Card
Two men in their thirties from central Israel were arrested on suspicion of breaking into over 20 hotel rooms in Eilat, with the number of affected rooms possibly rising. The suspects, known criminals to the police, allegedly used a stolen master card to gain access to the rooms and steal valuables. During a court hearing at the Eilat Magistrate's Court over the weekend, a police investigator detailed their method, stating one suspect stole the master card while the other entered rooms to commit thefts. Security camera footage from hotels and other locations in the city captured the suspects during the crimes.
The investigator presented a detailed list of stolen items from each room, emphasizing that the suspects "stole everything that could be stolen." One suspect was found carrying a large suitcase filled with property believed to belong to hotel guests. Besides the break-ins, the suspects are also suspected of using stolen credit cards to make purchases at various businesses around Eilat.
Authorities are also investigating the possibility of another gang operating similarly in the city, impersonating guests to deceive cleaning staff and steal expensive equipment and credit cards. Investigators are working to identify all guests affected by these thefts. During the hearing, one suspect's lawyer requested his release, arguing lack of evidence of involvement. However, the court ruled that releasing them could hinder the investigation and extended their detention by four days to complete further inquiries.
