Basta Restaurant in Nof HaGalil Revamps Menu to Focus on Premium Meats and Open Fire Cooking
The Basta restaurant in Nof HaGalil, which opened approximately six months ago with a simpler concept of kebabs, is undergoing a significant format change. The establishment is now shifting its focus to a comprehensive meat-centric menu featuring premium cuts, bone-in steaks, and smoked meats. While open-fire cooking remains a feature, the approach is becoming more sophisticated.
Chef Joseph Mansour from Nazareth, known for his participation in the culinary reality show "MKR The Winning Kitchen" on Keshet 12, is leading the restaurant's new gastronomic direction. The updated menu highlights various meat preparations. The open grill will feature Black Angus entrecôte, beef fillet, and lamb. Prime rib and T-bone steaks are offered bone-in and sold by weight. Additionally, the restaurant is incorporating a smoking process, with brisket and asado slow-cooked for several hours in a yard smoker.
The bread offerings have also been updated, with handmade focaccia replacing the pita that was central to the original concept. The focaccia, baked in an Italian stone oven, is now a standalone menu item and serves as the base for sandwiches. Appetizers include a meat-filled kubbeh with tzatziki and crispy cauliflower with tahini, both priced at 38 shekels. A burrata salad with roasted cherry tomatoes and focaccia costs 62 shekels.
The grill section includes dishes like shaitel served over crispy potatoes with chimichurri for 69 shekels, and Greek chicken gyros for 68 shekels. The steak selection features grilled lamb (129 shekels), Black Angus entrecôte (169 shekels), and beef fillet (159 shekels). Prime rib and T-bone steaks are priced at 56 shekels per 100 grams, served with grilled vegetables and potatoes.
Smoked meats, such as asado or brisket with chimichurri, are available for 68 shekels. The Basta sandwich, featuring smoked meat on focaccia with various sauces and toppings, is 79 shekels. The signature burger, made with a 220-gram entrecôte patty in a brioche bun with tempura onion rings and cheddar cream, costs 84 shekels, including fries.
The restaurant's physical space has also been redesigned to complement the new meat concept, featuring an open kitchen with live fire and a spacious courtyard with the smoker. Basta also offers private meat-themed events. The restaurant is located at 4 HaHarodet Street, Industrial Zone Gimel, Nof HaGalil, with business lunches available from 12:00 to 15:00.
