Shin Bet Arrests Israeli Arab Man for Hamas Sympathies

Israel's internal security agency, the Shin Bet, has arrested a 19-year-old Bedouin man from the southern town of Segev Shalom on suspicion of identifying with the terrorist organization Hamas. The suspect, Dif Allah Abu Regila, allegedly published content inciting terrorism and expressing support for Hamas.

He was initially apprehended by the National Guard's counter-terrorism unit about a month prior to his arrest and transferred for interrogation by the Shin Bet. During his questioning, it was revealed that in 2026, the suspect shared numerous extremist materials on social media platforms that were identified with Hamas. These posts reportedly included incitement, praise for violence and terrorism, and expressions of solidarity with the organization.

Among the shared content were images and videos of terrorists, footage from the October 7, 2023 attacks, praise for militants and Hamas leaders, materials associated with the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, glorification of attacks carried out in Israel, and explicit calls for acts of violence and terrorism.

Following the investigation, the Southern District Attorney's Office (Criminal) filed an indictment against the suspect at the Beersheba Magistrate's Court. He faces charges related to inciting terrorism and expressing identification with a terrorist organization.

Both the Israel Police and the Shin Bet emphasized their zero-tolerance policy towards any involvement in inciting, supporting, or identifying with terrorist organizations. They pledged to continue their determined efforts to locate those involved, thwart activities that endanger public safety, and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.
