Idan Zalmanson Nears Return to Maccabi Rishon LeZion
Israeli national team center Idan Zalmanson is reportedly close to signing with Maccabi Rishon LeZion for a second stint with the club. Zalmanson, who played for Hapoel Holon in the past two seasons, is expected to leave the Holon team despite having one more year on his contract. If the move materializes, the 31-year-old will sign a one-year deal with Rishon LeZion, who will cover his full salary. Several other teams have expressed interest, but Rishon LeZion appears to be leading the race to acquire him.
Zalmanson would become the fourth Israeli player signed by Rishon LeZion this summer, joining Ron Tzipor, Orr Kornelius, and Michael Brisker. Last season, Zalmanson averaged 7.8 points, 2.3 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game in 17.6 minutes of play for Hapoel Holon.
