Gaza Violence Escalates Amid New Israeli Ceasefire Violations
Gaza experienced new Israeli violations of a ceasefire agreement on Tuesday, including shelling, gunfire, and the demolition of homes and residential structures. These actions, which also targeted areas housing displaced people, occurred amidst ongoing tension and a worsening humanitarian situation. Reports indicated 11 Israeli violations during the early morning hours, accompanied by intensive, low-altitude drone flights over Gaza City.
Israeli tanks shelled areas east of Khan Younis, while warplanes targeted eastern parts of the city. Helicopters fired east of Deir al-Balah, and military vehicles engaged in heavy firing in southern Khan Younis. In Gaza City, artillery shelled eastern areas, warplanes conducted a raid east of the city, and military vehicles fired northwest of the city while quadcopter drones flew over Abu Iskandar in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Warplanes also raided eastern parts of the Al-Tuffah neighborhood.
An Israeli explosive robot advanced towards the Al-Snaffour junction east of Al-Tuffah, and forces demolished homes and residential structures northwest of Beit Lahia. Naval vessels also fired towards the sea off Khan Younis.
These violations come amid continued tension surrounding a ceasefire agreement brokered by Arab and American mediators in Sharm El Sheikh on October 10, 2025, which stipulated an end to the conflict in Gaza. The breaches also persist despite understandings announced in July 2026 regarding the second phase of a truce, and following U.S. President Donald Trump's July 31 announcement of a "new agreement" to begin the second phase of the Gaza "road map."
