Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar Leads Yom Kippur Rituals and Blessings

Following the conclusion of Yom Kippur, former Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, led thousands in the "Blessing of the New Moon" (Birkat Hachama) and Havdalah ceremonies in Jerusalem. Rabbi Amar, dressed in traditional white robes reserved for Yom Kippur, officiated the rituals which mark the end of the holy day and the beginning of the new lunar month.

Throughout Yom Kippur, Rabbi Amar stayed at the 'Shaarei Yerushalayim' hotel in Jerusalem, where he was joined by numerous students and followers from across Israel. He served as the "Shaliach Tzibbur" or prayer leader for the concluding Musaf and Ne'ilah services, performing these solemn prayers with great emotion.

After the final prayers and the blowing of the shofar to signal the end of the fast, attendees proceeded to recite the Blessing of the New Moon with uplifted spirits. This was followed by the Havdalah ceremony, which separates the holy day from the mundane week, and the distribution of the "Blessing of the Years" to the public.
