Prominent Rabbi Leads Prayers Ahead of High Holy Days

Rabbi Meir Tzaddok, a leading Sephardic sage, embarked on a series of prayer services in Jerusalem in anticipation of the High Holy Days, which begin with Rosh Hashanah and culminate in Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.

His itinerary included visits to significant religious sites. He prayed at the Western Wall, a remnant of the ancient Jewish Temple. He also visited the Sanhedria Cemetery, where he paid respects at the graves of his father, Rabbi Yehuda Tzaddok, and other family members. Additionally, he visited the tomb of Rabbi Ben Zion Abba Shaul.

The rabbi concluded his prayer services at dawn with the "Hatarat Nedarim" ritual, a ceremony for annulling vows, and recited "Selichot" prayers, which are penitential verses recited before the High Holy Days, at his Beit Midrash "Shaul Tzaddok" on Shmuel HaNavi Street in Jerusalem.
