Qatar Denies Funding Hamas, Blames Israel for Oversight

Qatar has issued a strong condemnation of a recent American "New Yorker" magazine report alleging that Doha provided funds to Hamas. In an official statement, Qatari authorities rejected the claims, asserting that all financial aid, including goods, medicine, and fuel, was directed exclusively to Palestinian civilians and passed through mechanisms coordinated with Israel and international partners. Qatar emphasized that "all financial aid, including goods, medicine, and fuel, passed through Israel before entering Gaza. Nothing was transferred without Israeli involvement at every stage of the process."

Doha placed full responsibility on Israel for any potential diversion of funds, highlighting that these aid operations occurred over years under successive governments and with the involvement of security agencies. "If any funding reached Hamas, it had no connection to Qatar," the statement read. "In fact, the responsibility for this lies with Israel, which supervised the transfer, including under the tenures of Bennett, Lapid, and Netanyahu, and through various bodies including the Mossad and the Shin Bet."

The Qatari authorities also criticized the "New Yorker" report, which reportedly examined the conduct of advisors to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it an "amateur blog" based on false and fabricated information. Qatar claims the magazine lent credibility to materials that are part of a disinformation campaign against the country. "We have solid evidence that for years various parties, including elements of the Israeli far-right, have been involved in creating and disseminating fabricated documents in the media with the aim of implicating Qatar," the statement concluded.
