Israeli Father of Six Killed in West Bank Terror Attack

Translated & summarized from NEWSru Israel by baba
The story · English

A 30-year-old Israeli father of six, Netanel Shachron, was killed in a terrorist attack near the Ein Tsuf (Ein Raya) spring in the West Bank on the eve of Yom Kippur. Shachron, from the settlement of Alon Shvut, was at the spring for ritual immersion when a Palestinian terrorist driving by exited his vehicle and opened fire with an M-16 rifle. Shachron, who was in a vehicle approaching the spring, sustained critical injuries and later died at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva. His son, also in the vehicle, was unharmed.

Palestinian social media identified the attacker as Qadri Muhammad Samara from the village of Biddu, near Giv'at Ze'ev. He was wounded by an Israel Defense Forces tracker shortly after the attack while fleeing. The Duvdevan Unit tracked Samara to a Palestinian clinic where he sought medical help and refuge, and he was subsequently apprehended. National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called for the death penalty for Samara.

IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir visited the scene to assess the situation with other senior military and police officials. Zamir ordered a blockade of Samara's village, a search for accomplices, and the sealing and demolition of the terrorist's home. Zamir stated that while the terrorist was quickly apprehended, the IDF's mission to investigate and apprehend anyone who aided him is ongoing. He emphasized that the IDF remains on high alert to prevent terror and protect Israeli citizens, especially during the Yom Kippur holiday.
