Israeli Father of Three Drowns During Family Vacation in Slovenia
An Israeli man, Gil Hillel, 44, drowned to death on Sunday while on a family vacation in Slovenia. Hillel, a father of three, was a resident of Kibbutz Yizrael and was originally from the coastal community of Mikhmoret. The exact circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.
The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been notified of the incident. The department for Israelis Abroad and the Israeli delegation in the region are providing assistance to Hillel's family, including arrangements for the repatriation of his body for burial in Israel. Funeral details have not yet been announced.
Kibbutz Yizrael, where Hillel lived with his wife and children, issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over his passing. The kibbutz noted that Hillel was born and raised in Mikhmoret before moving to Kibbutz Yizrael upon his marriage to a kibbutz member, where he built his home and family. Members of the kibbutz were reportedly shocked and pained by the news and are rallying around Hillel's extended family, friends, and children.
