Israel Delivers Advanced SPYDER Air Defense System to Czech Republic

During the NATO Days event, a significant milestone was reached in the defense partnership between Israel and the Czech Republic with the delivery of the SPYDER air defense system, manufactured by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems. This marks the Czech Republic as the first NATO member state to acquire a complete, end-to-end air defense system from Israel. The acquisition was finalized through an intergovernmental agreement signed in 2021, facilitated by the Israeli Ministry of Defense's Security Cooperation Directorate (SIBAT) and the Defense Equipment Agency.

Of the four batteries purchased, two have already arrived in the Czech Republic. The production of all batteries has been completed, specifically tailored to meet the operational requirements of the Czech Army and NATO's stringent standards. The SPYDER system is expected to provide the Czech Republic with comprehensive, advanced, and integrated air defense capabilities.

The Israeli Ministry of Defense highlighted that this deal exemplifies Israel's defense export strategy. This strategy is seen as crucial not only for strengthening the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and fostering growth in the defense industries and the Israeli economy, but also as a key tool for advancing foreign policy objectives and defense doctrine with Western nations.
