Bnei Sakhnin Secures First League Win of Season Against Hapoel Ramat Gan

Bnei Sakhnin achieved their first victory of the 2026-27 season on Saturday, defeating Hapoel Ramat Gan 1-0 at home. The decisive goal came from new signing Liray Owusu in the 67th minute, marking a successful debut for the 30-year-old forward who previously trained at Ajax. Owusu replaced the injured Maron Gantos just before halftime and scored after a skillful play in the box, assisted by Matthew Cudjoe. Antonio Spat hit the post moments earlier.

Despite facing a somewhat depleted squad, including the absence of striker Daniel Parschiv due to injury, Sakhnin struggled in the first half, drawing boos from the home crowd. However, under coach Yossi Abuksis, the team improved its performance after the break, creating chances and ultimately securing the win before the international break. Itamar Shviro also made his debut for Sakhnin.

Hapoel Ramat Gan had early opportunities, including a header from Basil Khoury that went wide and two quick saves by goalkeeper Raul Bravo in the second half. Their missed chances proved costly as Owusu scored at the other end. This loss leaves Hapoel Ramat Gan with only 3 points, while Sakhnin improves to 5 points ahead of a challenging match against Maccabi Tel Aviv.

The win is significant for Sakhnin, who have had a difficult start to the season under coach Massai Dego, with four losses in their last five games. For Hapoel Ramat Gan, this defeat extends their winless streak in away league matches to six consecutive games, dating back to the 2012-13 season.
