Bnei Sakhnin Faces Relegation Battle After Poor Start
Bnei Sakhnin suffered their second consecutive home defeat on Monday, losing 1-0 to Beitar Jerusalem. Despite not being outplayed by their opponents, the team coached by Yossi Abukasis again failed to score, accumulating only one point after three league matches. Only Hapoel Ramat Gan has fewer points.
The disappointment is significant, especially as Beitar Jerusalem entered the match under immense pressure, in poor form, without their fans, and missing key defensive players. Sakhnin failed to capitalize on their opponent's struggles.
A club source told Sport Channel, "Our goal this season is to remain in the league. We began building the team long before last season ended, but the management changed and they are trying to stabilize while in motion."
Coach Yossi Abukasis surprised by not playing midfielder Mustafa Sheikh Yusuf at all, despite him starting the first two games. Meanwhile, Sakhnin aims to reach a compensation agreement with Angolan midfielder Norberto Carlos and sign a foreign right-back. Additionally, former Sakhnin player Sahar Taji may return for a second stint with the club, as he was not included in Maccabi Netanya's squad on Monday and is not part of their plans for this season.
