Omer Atzili Nears Eli Ohana's Goal Record in Israeli League
Beitar Jerusalem star Omer Atzili scored his 111th goal in the Israeli Premier League, moving him closer to the legendary Eli Ohana's record. Atzili achieved a significant milestone in the 2026/27 season by scoring and assisting in the same league match for the first time, a feat he had previously accomplished four times in total across different games. This particular goal was his first from outside the penalty area this season, contrasting with three such goals last year. He capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Yoav Jerafi from a difficult angle.
Atzili's involvement in goals has been notable throughout his career. He previously scored and assisted in a match against Austria Vienna and netted his first league goal of the season against Maccabi Petah Tikva. Against Hapoel Haifa, he was directly involved in 18 goals, scoring 11 and assisting seven. His highest involvement numbers are against Maccabi Netanya (23 goals) and Kiryat Shmona (18 goals).
With 111 league goals, Atzili is now just ten goals behind Eli Ohana. He is currently ranked 29th all-time in league scoring. He is also 44 goals away from reaching the top ten, a mark he, at 33 years old, could potentially achieve within the next two seasons.
