Likud Slams Arab Party MK Over Alleged Government Overthrow Plot

The Likud party launched a sharp attack on Arab Israeli lawmaker Ahmed Tibi following remarks he made on the "Meet the Press" program. Likud accused Tibi of revealing a plan orchestrated by Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Lieberman, and Yair Golan to form a government with the support of Arab parties.

According to a Likud statement, Tibi was quoted as saying, "Without the Arab parties, it is impossible to replace the government. We will replace the Knesset Speaker immediately after the elections." The party further claimed that a vote for Eisenkot and Lieberman would effectively give Tibi and Mansour Abbas the "keys to the country."

Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana joined the criticism, suggesting Tibi's comments stemmed from anger over not being appointed Deputy Knesset Speaker for many years. Ohana alleged that Tibi revealed his and Eisenkot's plan to replace him with a left-wing candidate after the elections, paving the way for their government.

Ohana added that the Israeli public received further proof that Eisenkot would form a minority government supported by Arab parties if he could. He concluded by urging voters to prevent such an outcome, stating, "It is in your hands to prevent this."
