Arab Israeli Lawmaker Proposes Government Overthrow with Opposition Bloc

Arab Israeli lawmaker Ahmed Tibi, head of the Hadash-Ta'al party, revealed his political intentions for the post-election period on Saturday evening. Speaking on the "Meet the Press" program, Tibi stated that Arab parties could play a role in replacing the current Netanyahu government.

Tibi announced that his party would collaborate with the bloc led by Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot to replace the Knesset Speaker. "We will replace the Knesset Speaker together with the Eisenkot bloc, we will recommend the bloc's candidate, and we will do more than just recommend to replace the Netanyahu government," Tibi declared. He further emphasized the crucial role of Arab parties, stating, "Without the Arab parties, it is impossible to replace the government."

The Likud party responded swiftly to Tibi's remarks, criticizing the potential political maneuver. A Likud statement labeled Tibi's comments a "media bomb" and accused him of exposing a plan by Eisenkot, Avigdor Lieberman, and Yair Golan to form a government reliant on Arab parties. "A vote for Eisenkot and Lieberman, and the keys to the country in the hands of Ahmed Tibi and Mansour Abbas," the Likud statement concluded, warning of the implications.
