Netanyahu Considers Texas Stop During Upcoming US Visit

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is contemplating adding a stop in Texas to his upcoming trip to the United States for the UN General Assembly. A diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post on September 17, 2026, that a team is currently in Texas assessing the feasibility of such a visit. The Prime Minister's trip is expected to be brief, lasting only two days, as he needs to return to Israel before the Sukkot holiday.

Logistical challenges and Netanyahu's tight schedule have raised questions even among organizers regarding the potential Texas visit. The state is home to influential Republican politicians, including Senator Ted Cruz, who are strong supporters of Israel. Texas has also become a significant hub for investments, technology, and trade partnerships with Israel.

Bilateral trade between Texas and Israel reached approximately $4 billion in 2024. Over the past decade, Texas has seen 34 Israeli investment projects totaling around $3.2 billion, creating over 4,200 jobs. Earlier this year, Texas authorities doubled their investment in Israeli bonds to about $280 million and are working to open an economic representative office in Jerusalem.

One proposed itinerary suggests Netanyahu might forgo an overnight stay in New York, traveling there solely for his UN address. His single night in the US could be spent in Texas or another unconfirmed location. The specific reasons or meetings necessitating a stop in Texas have not yet been disclosed. Netanyahu's UN address is scheduled for next Thursday around 9:00 PM Israel time.
