Netanyahu Considers Surprise Texas Visit Amid UN Trip

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming two-day visit to the United States for the UN General Assembly may include an unexpected stop in Texas. A preliminary team from the Prime Minister's office is currently in the state exploring the possibility of adding a visit to Netanyahu's schedule, a diplomatic source confirmed. The decision is not yet final, and the potential addition has generated curiosity due to Netanyahu's tight schedule. Texas is home to prominent Republican politicians supportive of Israel, such as Senator Ted Cruz, and has become a significant hub for technological, investment, and trade ties with Israel. In 2024, trade between Texas and Israel reached approximately $4 billion. Over the preceding decade, Israeli investments in Texas totaled around $3.2 billion, creating over 4,200 jobs. Texas has also doubled its investment in Israeli bonds to about $280 million and is planning to establish an economic representation in Jerusalem. The specific reason for considering the Texas visit remains unknown.

Meanwhile, in New York, Mayor Eric Adams stated he has no plans to join protests against Netanyahu during his visit for the UN General Assembly. Adams assured that his focus is on ensuring the city's safety and readiness to host international delegates, managing traffic, and addressing local concerns. He reiterated that while New York respects the right to protest, his personal views on Netanyahu have been clearly expressed previously. Adams also commented on a planned prayer vigil for Israel and Netanyahu outside Gracie Mansion, organized by Jewish students, stating they are welcome to hold their event, though he does not expect to meet with them as he will likely be elsewhere in the city.
