Maccabi Hadera Wins Inaugural "Guri" Women's Volleyball Tournament

Maccabi Hadera has won the third annual "Guri" Women's Volleyball Tournament, defeating Hapoel Kfar Saba 2-1 in a close final match. The deciding set score was 15-12.

The tournament, held in memory of Guri Abramovich who passed away two years and three months ago, took place in the Kfar Saba hall bearing his name. The ceremony honored Abramovich's contributions to sports, particularly volleyball. His vision transformed Hapoel Kfar Saba into a leading club, emphasizing youth development and making sports accessible to children and teenagers from all societal backgrounds. Abramovich believed sports were a way of life and a means of educating in values. During his tenure, Hapoel Kfar Saba won seven league championships and seven state cups.

M.S. Ramat Aviv secured third place by defeating Maccabi Tel Aviv 2-0. Maccabi Hadera showcased a talented team featuring three foreign players. Hapoel Kfar Saba, under new coach Itai Bachrach, presented a young and ambitious squad, relying on promising young players alongside veteran captain Galit Dvash and one foreign player, Brazilian middle blocker Thamyra Silva de Melo, 27.

Guri Abramovich's wife, Ofra Abramovich, spoke about his legacy, stating, "Guri was a man of action. He understood that everyone needs to leave something behind. Guri believed it wasn't enough to ask someone else what was good for them, but always asked what he could give to others, and what he was leaving for the future. Guri didn't live for himself, but did things so that others could also enjoy them. And today Guri is no longer here, but something of him remains and continues to grow and give to others."

Galit Dvash, captain of Hapoel Kfar Saba, who joined the club thanks to Guri Abramovich, recounted, "17 years ago, Guri Abramovich saved Hapoel Kfar Saba from dissolution and brought it back to life, making it not just a successful club, but a community. Guri did a lot to ensure the senior teams aspired to achievements and competed for titles, while simultaneously establishing a successful youth department with over a thousand players."
