Hapoel Jerusalem Dominates Maccabi Karmiel in Season Opener
Hapoel Lev Jerusalem kicked off the 2026/27 Israeli Women's Basketball season in style, decisively defeating Maccabi Karmiel Beit HaKerem 90-66 in a qualifying tournament match. The victory secured Jerusalem a spot in the quarterfinals of the Athena Winner tournament, where they are set to face Elizur Ramla.
From the outset, Jerusalem established dominance at their home arena in Malha. They led 24-11 after the first quarter and extended their advantage to 29 points by halftime. The third quarter saw Jerusalem further widen the gap with a commanding 31-11 run, bringing the score to 82-39.
Despite Jerusalem's overwhelming performance, Karmiel managed to narrow the deficit in the final minutes, achieving a more respectable final score. Key scorers for Jerusalem included Dominique Davis with 20 points, Hadar Mor Yosef with 14, and Nitzan Amar with 12 points and 7 assists. For Karmiel, Daryuana Lewis led the scoring with 22 points, followed by Travaria Watson with 13.
