Hapoel Jerusalem Dominates Maccabi Karmiel in Season Opener
Hapoel Lev Jerusalem kicked off the 2026-27 Israeli Women's Basketball season in style, decisively defeating Maccabi Karmiel Beit HaKerem 90-66 in a preliminary round match of the Athena Winner tournament. The victory secures Jerusalem a spot in the quarterfinals, where they are set to face Elizur Ramla.
From the outset, Jerusalem established dominance at their home arena in Malha. They closed the first quarter with a commanding 24-11 lead and extended their advantage to 29 points by halftime. The third quarter saw Jerusalem further widen the gap, outscoring Karmiel 31-11 to lead 82-39, ultimately cruising to a comfortable win.
Dominique Davis led Jerusalem's scoring with 20 points, supported by Hadar Mor Yosef with 14 and Nitzan Amar with 12. For Karmiel, Daryuana Lewis was the top scorer with 22 points, followed by Travaria Watson with 13.
