Rabies Case in Hermesh Settlement Prompts Health Ministry Alert
A dog in the Hermesh settlement tested positive for rabies on Friday, September 18. The Ministry of Health is urging anyone who had contact with the infected dog or with stray animals in the area between September 1 and September 18 to immediately seek medical attention.
Individuals are advised to contact the health department in Netanya at their clinic (18 Ben-Tzvi Street), by phone at 09-83001111, or at the nearest healthcare facility for an assessment of potential preventative treatment. For evening and weekend consultations, people should go directly to hospitals. No prior appointment is necessary.
The Ministry of Health specifically requests that parents whose children were in Hermesh remain vigilant and check if their children had any contact with animals. In the event of a bite or scratch from a domestic or wild animal, the wound should be immediately washed with soap and running water for approximately 10 minutes, treated with an antiseptic, and medical help should be sought as soon as possible.
