Security cameras in Cambridgeshire, England, captured a bold overnight robbery on a commercial street, where a gang used a telescopic excavator to rip an ATM out of a bank branch. The footage, later circulated on social media, shows a pickup truck reversing to secure the area while a dark sedan stops in the middle of the road.
Moments later, the heavy construction vehicle arrives and is driven with speed and precision toward the front of the bank. The operator swings the arm straight into the building facade and, in one violent motion, tears the cash machine from its housing, causing major structural damage. A large cloud of smoke and dust then blows into the street.
Authorities said one suspect then got out of the dark car, helped guide the excavator and assisted with loading the detached ATM. The whole operation lasted only a few minutes, and the thieves fled immediately afterward, leaving the excavator behind at the scene along with extensive damage to the front of the building.
Local police have opened an intensive investigation and are reviewing nearby CCTV in an effort to trace the suspects’ escape route. Investigators are also trying to determine whether the excavator used in the robbery was stolen from a nearby construction site.
