Roni Levy, who arrived at Maccabi Netanya last season in place of Yossi Abukasis, is heading into the real test now that he is building the squad and choosing his own professional staff. The club has backed him fully to make whatever changes he sees fit after a season in which Netanya failed to reach the upper playoff, and qualification for that group is the main target for the new campaign.
Levy brought in Haim Shabo when he joined, reuniting with a coach he had previously worked with at Beitar Jerusalem. Mental consultant Eran Weisbard will also stay on for another season.
Levy particularly wanted goalkeeper coach Ran Kedosh, with whom he worked at Hapoel Haifa, but the club parted ways with veteran Ofer Bezon, who has signed with Hapoel Kfar Saba. Analyst Aviel Zamro has also left, and Liron Galat has taken over in his place. Fitness coach Ofer Doron will continue in his role.
On the squad-building side, Netanya has already added two relatively high-salary signings, Dor Hugi and Grigori Morozov, and more players are expected to arrive. The club, known as the Yellows, wants to produce a strong season and close the gap on the five biggest clubs in the league.
