Jazz Rookie Keyonte George Secures Massive $157.5 Million Extension
Keyonte George, the rising star of the Utah Jazz, has agreed to a five-year contract extension worth $157.5 million. The deal was finalized on Friday after months of negotiations between George's agent, Jason Raine, and Jazz president Austin Ainge.
George's new contract will represent approximately 16% of the Jazz's salary cap and includes no team or player options. The Jazz view George and Darin Peterson, their second overall pick in this year's draft, as a future dynamic backcourt pairing.
The Jazz are in a rebuilding phase and hope to become more competitive this season. They recently acquired two-time All-Star power forward Jaren Jackson Jr. at the trade deadline.
Keyonte George is the son of Jason George, a former Israeli Basketball Premier League player who played in Israel from 2015 to 2021 for teams including Hapoel Galil Elyon, Maccabi Rishon LeZion, Hapoel Haifa, and Maccabi Ironi Ra'anana.
